If a Mayor Goes Missing in New Jersey, and No One Is There to Notice…
…Is he really gone? Atlantic City, New Jersey mayor Robert Levy was missing for two weeks before it was discovered that he had checked himself into a clinic that treats substance abuse and mental health issues. All he told his colleagues was that he hadn’t been feeling well, and that he would be taking a medical leave of unspecified duration. But don’t worry:
In a telephone interview, Jacobs said the mayor checked himself into the Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead on either September 26 or 27. The mayor was last seen in public on September 26 when he signed several ordinances at City Hall.
So at least the mentally-unstable mayor made sure to sign some legislation into effect before seeking some psychiatric care. Somehow, I doubt that Mr. Levy is the only mayor that’s been pulling a Marion Barry. Maybe we’d be well-advised to send all our politicians off to institutions before we end up with more guys trying to ban pants.
